The Martial Art School Nottingham was founded in 2003 by Sensei Ilja Hoffmann, who with over 40 years of training is a highly experienced instructor.
Our classes are mainly focused on none competetive Martial Arts & Self-Defence Training, using techniques from styles such as Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, Ninjutsu, Ju-Jutsu, and others.
We are based at the Brocklehigh Community Sports & Art Centre on Beechdale Road, Nottingham and can easily be reached by car or public transport.

Have a longstanding history and were often developed for combat and battlefield, providing hand-to-hand as well as weapons training alike. Futher, skills such as fighting in armour, horsemanship, archery, field craft, tactics and medicine were sometimes also part of the training. They provide an excellent choice for anyone looking to explore older forms of martial arts, whilst remaining as relevant as ever.
Examples: Aikido, Jiu Jitsu, Ninjutsu, Kobudo, Kyodo
With demand and legislations changing over time, many new forms of martial arts emerged, offering an excellent choice for anyone looking to engage in demanding physical activities as well as competitions, allowing practitioners to go head-to-head with each other in a controlled and regulated environment. Another feature of modern martial arts are grading systems based around belt colours.
Examples: MMA, BJJ, Karate, Judo, Taekwondo, Kickboxing
Here you'll find elements of both, traditional and modern martial arts, providing a large portfolio of options for the practitioner. The techniques practised are meant to be simple yet highly effective. Self-Defence is often taught in form of seminars or short term courses, which can vary from a day to several weeks, offering the option of exploring martial arts without having to sign up for regular classes immediately.
